Magdalena Fincham has over 10 years experience in most aspects of Intellectual Property law and business considerations. Selected by MIT as a member of the TR100 for the year 1999, a list of the country’s top 100 contributors to the New Economy, Ms. Fincham is a named inventor in more than 200 issued and pending patents. She began managing patent portfolios in 1997 for Walker Digital Management, LLC, an innovation laboratory whose business is to develop, protect, and commercialize IP. After earning a law degree in 2002, she joined Walker’s legal team and subsequently served as Counsel and Vice President, Intellectual Property. While at Walker Digital, Ms. Fincham co-managed a large in-house IP legal group with Mr. Downs.

In addition to her significant patent procurement and prosecution experience and successes, Ms. Fincham has extensive experience in licensing and transactional work. She has structured complex asset sales and licensing agreements, as well as conducted clearance and validity opinions. Ms. Fincham particularly enjoys working as a member of an in-house team to formulate and implement an IP strategy (including process flows and infrastructure) for a new or existing portfolio, strategically evaluating and recalibrating an existing IP portfolio and creating commercialization models for an existing portfolio.

Having played integral roles in multiple start-up businesses, both in a business role and legal capacity, Ms. Fincham recognizes the importance of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. To that end, Ms. Fincham has served as cochair of the Economic Development Commission and Head of the Green Business Task Force in the Town of Ridgefield, as a judge for the Intellectual Property Magazine Awards 2010 and remains active in MIT’s TR35 annual program.
